After Much Anticipation, Devara: Finally, After A Long Time, Part 1 Is Out In Theatres, And Glad To Take The Audience On A Thrilling Ride Empowered By Jr Ntr And Saif Ali Khan. Expected To Be Helmed By The Talented Director Koratala Siva, The Movie Comes With Lot Of Expectations On Board And Now The Shutterspeed Has Only Raised The Stakes With The Impressive Star Power It Has Got. Still, Like Any Other Film, I Would Like To Highlight Several Problems Through action And Emotions Everything Is Great. Here I Will Reveal What Is Good And What Is Bad In This Interesting Drama Which Promises To Provide An Exciting Cinema Viewing.
Storyline
Devara: Part 1 Happens In The Fictional Village Of Ratnagiri On The Shoreline Of The Red Sea. The Film Formally Acquaints Audiences With Violent Opposition To Devara (jr Ntr), Bhaira (saif Ali Khan), Rayappa (Srikanth), And Other Key Characters Who Control The Village’s Smuggling Racket. Collect Orders From Muruga A Mysterious Man In The Background Somewhat As The Mafia Head In Charge Of Controlling Smuggling Operations From The Sea.
The Opportunity For An Actual Plot Arises Once Devara Begins to Experience Moments Of Ethical Anxiety Over The Smuggling Business Which Makes Him Break Od With Bhaira, Who Does Not Comprehend Why What They Do Is Wrong. Because Of This Portrayal Of Ambition, Bhaira Plans On Killing Devara. Devara Then Mysteriously Disappears, And With Her, the Majority Of The Towns Framework And Hierarchies. Twelve Years Later, And Bhaira Is The Undisputed King Of Ratnagiri, But He Still Hasn’t Been Satisfied With His Desire Of Hunting Down Devara.
The Twist Then Is Depicted When Devara Has A Son Called Vara. Initially, The Character Vara (also Of Jr Ntr) Is Shown As An Oppressed And Diraped Son Of Devara Who Later Teams Up With Bhaira. I Also Want To Know, The Reason That Vara Decided To Work With His Father’s Enemy? ‘false Pride’ – Does He Retain Vitriol That Originated From Devara? But Most Importantly Will Devara Be Alive Somewhere In The Shadows Waiting To Take His Rightful Position Again? The Answers To These Questions Are Roots Of An Intriguing Plot Of The Film That Are Making A Suspense Feeling To An Audience.
Performances
At The Heart Of Devara: Part 1 Is Its Performances, Which Is Headed By Jr Ntr. In This Film, Jr Ntr, As An Actor Effectively Plays Two Opposite Characters – The Fighting And Noble Devara, And The Blatantly Wronged But Guilty Vara. As Devara, Jr Ntr Seems To Have Got The Good Mix Of The Character’s Simple And Honest Personality, Yet There Is Energy That Has Not Been Unleashed. On The Other Hand Vara, The Main Focus Is The Weak And The Fear, So This Character Proves That He Has The Jekyll In Him And Can Perform Versatility. These Two Roles Offer Him Enough Opportunity To Exhibit His Flexibility And Indeed He Does Not Underperform.
Well, Saif Ali Khan In The State Of Bhaira Is So Nasty That He Has The Power To Raise The Suspense In The Movie. How Krishnudu Plays Bhaira As A Villain All Set To Eliminate Devara Lends The Conflict Much More Density; This Makes Bhaira One Of The Most Interesting Antagonists In Recent Telugu Films. Saif’s Entry Into Tollywood Has Been Nothing Short Of Spectacular, And Devara: Part 1 Is A Good Platform For Him As An Actor In The Telugu Movie Industry.
Janhvi Kapoor Plays The Role Of A Village Girl Love Interest For Devara And Vara Her Role Is Visibly Weak But She Brings The Charm On The Big Screen. Indeed Her Romance With Jr Ntr In The Flashback Portion Gives Feeling To The Film Though For A Short Time Only And Interrupts The Rugged Episodes.
Other prominent casts are Srikanth, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, and others extending the A-list series of actors associated with the movie. There is good support from Srikanth and Prakash Raj, who fortunately do not dilute the drama in the movie. But there is quite a significant lack of backstory for Prakash Raj’s character who seems quite under sketched in some points.
Actions, Action Sequences, and Direction
One of the major highlights of Devara: One is the intensity of its action scenes which is Part 1. Koratala Siva, who made a name for himself with his ability to incorporate mass elements with message-oriented plots, has attempted this in this movie also. The car chases are quite synchronized most often to present some specific raw approaches which are quite exciting. Devara’s battles range from fierce close battles to jaw-dropping spectacular chases that cause applause.
Its dramatic tone also surfaced perfectly when it comes to the film’s emotionality although it is most evident in the beginning part. Devara and Vara and Vara and Bhaira’s opposite behavior also provide an interesting combination of a father and a son and a brother and a brother relation respectively. But some of these emotions could again have been taken a step further and the second half of the movie seems to be missing it.
It is good news for movie-buffs to see that Koratala Siva has matured on the direction front, despite the predictability of the script. Concerning the part of the plot, the piece of work being discussed can be described to be rather monotonous as far as the events that are unfolding in the selected storyline are quite easy to foresee and would not be very difficult to guess what the characters of the story in question may face at any one time that they are stuck in the particular story, as few unexpected incidents occur in the particular story. The first half is quite good as it explores some interesting ideas that are unique to the series; the second half, on the other hand, is a bit of a train wreck in that it starts trudging into well-trod territory which was never really the strength of the show. A dialogue more intriguing, especially in the last half of the film, could have been taken to another level.
Technical Brilliance
From a technical standpoint, Devara: Part 1 shines. R. Rathnavelu’s Cinematography did a great job of capturing the craggy look of the coastal village besides giving a large canvas to the movements in the action sequences. His direction of the shots brings that element of the movie to greater visual appeal and the grand feel of every single scene.
The lawsounding music which is provided by Anirudh Ravichander would ensure that the moviegoers get an awesome feeling. Addressing the fact that besides Rajini, there is no significant melange of the antique and contemporary that this film lacks Anirudh’s music is the perfect configuration to the film’s tone. His score prepares the viewer and increases suspense during key scenes, as well as captures the required tenderness in some of the film’s romantic scenes.
A. Sreekar Prasad has done a neat job on the technical side, especially as an editor but he should have been more specific during the second half itself where a couple of scenes look well dragged. Nevertheless, the tempo in the first half is rather stable and rig, allowing the audience not to get bored from the start.
Weak Points
Despite its strengths, Devara: Nonetheless, there are weaknesses in Part 1. The most serious disadvantage will be that the plot of the film is quite predictable. While it is a fun, light story none of the arcs are suspenseful or tension-building like one might expect from a series like DBZ. Hence, the second half contains a lot of action but if only the author has refined the flow of the sentences as well as the fabric of the dialogues.
The other segment, one thought that could have been said more about the picture is the performance of the character of the leading lady, Janhvi Kapoor. She acts in some passionate scenes with Jr NTR and maybe her character is also good, but it is not as powerful as expected from her fans or as per Vyasa’s essential storyline. Similarly, though Saif Ali Khan trying to look like the antagonist Bhaira in the first half of the movie, he more or less vanishes from the scene in the second half.
Verdict
Devara: The first part is an intense action drama-packed movie that features the star hero Jr NTR in the right way accompanied by Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. But the film does not settle for providing a bare minimum in the entertainment, action, and emotional departments for a movie that tends to be quite predictable and slow at times.
For fans of mass entertainers, Devara: Part 1 is a must-watch. With perfect and polished work in presentation, amazing action scenes, and Jr NTR who add spice to the movie, this movie makes for good watching over the weekend. Despite its shortcomings, it is sure to leave audiences eagerly anticipating Devara: Part 2.
